High Contrast Grunge – Camera Raw

For this exercise, I used Camera Raw to achieve most of the effect.  I open the image of the football player in Camera Raw.  I made adjustments to Contrasts, Shadows, and Clarity first.  Then I adjusted the Blacks and Highlights sliders.  The next step was to tweak the Vibrance slider.  My final step was to do a slight adjustment to the Whites slider.

I like the Football Player one the best.  It works better with a lighter background that can get darker versus the black background with the boxer.  This also seems to work better on sports pictures than regular ones.

I then opened the image in Photoshop.   I added a new layer and then did a High Pass sharpening to give the photo more of an HDR look.  (I really like this look – especially on a sports photo)
